Our Commitment

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, magnify the page or prefer less movement on screen.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA.

What We Have Built In

Across the site:

• Every page has one main heading and headings run in order
• Every form field has a visible label and clear error messages
• Buttons and links are at least 48 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap
• Colour contrast meets AA for body text, and colour is never the only way meaning is shown
• Entrance animations are subtle, and stop completely if your device asks for reduced motion
• Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers
• The learning disability and autism pages have an easy read summary, and the autism page has a calm mode that removes animation and softens the colours
• Information is never hidden behind a tab or an accordion alone: the text is in the page either way

Known Limitations

Photographs are still being produced, so some pages show a placeholder panel with a written description of the image that will replace it.
